The Final Rule does not mention a that a temp device is required, are carriers required to have to have a temp device?
The final rule does
not require a temp device. The regulations assert that “food that
requires temperature control for safety is transported under adequate
temperature control”. That last statement is left to interpretation
by Food Shippers, many of which require real-time temperature monitoring. For
example: Unilever requires temperature monitoring every 15 minutes. Please
understand that once you have a Vypin tag in your trailer, you can provide
temperature traceability on every shipment for any broker, shipper, or receiver.
